Obituary

Eva Robinson was born Eva Mae Calhoun on August 7, 1949 to the late Sturlie and Lula Mae Calhoun. She was united in holy matrimony to the late Charles Augusta Robinson on October 11, 1969, and to this union two children, Terry and Tasha were born. Eva was a member of St. Mark Baptist Church where she sung in the choir, actively participated in Sunday School and served as an usher. For many years, she also served as an Eastern Star with Christian Love Chapter # 11.

She attended the Camilla Consolidated High School, but later received her diploma from St. George High in 1989. From there, Eva went on to graduate with a diploma for the completion of the Business in General Office course of study from Orangeburg Calhoun Technical College in 1991.

During her career, Eva worked as a bus driver, substitute teacher, sewing technician and in retail, but one of her most treasured positions was with the Dorchester County Board of Disabilities and Special Needs in Jedburg, SC. This was a position that stole her heart (from her co-workers to her clients), and even after she had to retire she continued to visit and spoke about how much she loved that position.

Eva enjoyed life and was always loving, energetic and giving. She was a sweet person, and together, her and her husband had a hand in raising many of their nieces and nephews. She enjoyed spending time with her friends, whether it was watching soap operas, shopping, talking on the phone, running errands or exercising at the Senior Center. She also loved flowers and spent numerous hours browsing in garden centers and planting and nurturing them to grow in her yard.

Three brothers preceded her in death: Roosevelt Calhoun, Julius Calhoun and Earl Calhoun.

Eva departed this life on October 8, 2015 and leaves to cherish her memories: one son, Terry Robinson of Brunswick, GA; one daughter, Tasha Robinson of Columbia, SC; one grandson, Justin Rose of Columbia, SC; one faithful companion, JoJo; three brothers, Reverend Sterlie (Rosetta) Calhoun and Samuel Calhoun both of Camilla, GA and James (Robin) Calhoun of Newark, NJ; two sisters, Glory (Alfonzo) Christian of Irvington, NJ and Cora Hardwick of El Paso, TX; two aunts, Flora Barton of Orangeburg, SC and Fannie Jenkins of Philadelphia, PA; three special nieces, Sandra Robinson of Atlanta, GA, DeEtte and Tatiana Robinson both of Somerville, NJ; two special nephews, Travis Robinson of Newark, NJ and Trevor Robinson of Hillside, NJ and a host of sisters-in-law; brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
