Eva Ruth Britt Henderson was born July 15, 1939, in St. George, South Carolina to the late Theodore and Louise Toomer Britt.  Eva departed this life on Wednesday, January 26, 2022 at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, South Carolina.

Eva accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at St. Mark Baptist Church.  She attended the Public Schools of Dorchester County, South Carolina.

Eva moved to Brooklyn, New York.   She lived in New York until she returned home to St. George, South Carolina.  She retired from New York Board of Education after thirty years of service.

Eva met the love of her life Joe Louis Henderson and was married in Brooklyn, New York in the Brownsville Community on October 19, 1958.  This union was blessed with six children.

Eva was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Louis Henderson; daughter, Jeanette Henderson; two brothers, Willie James Britt and Henry Britt; stepmother, Mary Jenkins Britt.

She leaves to cherish her fond memories, five sons, Joe Louis Henderson, Jr., Rickey Henderson, Johnny Henderson, Gene Henderson and Jamel Henderson; five grandchildren, Shavone Henderson, John Henderson, Jr., Joseph Henderson, Unique Henderson and Sade Monae Davis; a few great grandchildren; two sisters, Evelyn Archibald and Yvonne Britt-Miller; three brothers, James (Rosa) Britt, Theodore (Mary Ann) Britt and Harry (Gwen) Britt; her furry friend, Peanut; a host of other relatives and friends.
