Obituary

On Wednesday, November 9, 2022, an angel sounded the trumpet and called our beloved Eugene Edward Barnwell from Colleton Medical Center in Walterboro, South Carolina.  We mourn his passing, yet celebrate the exemplary life he lived, the good he did and his unselfish labor of love.

Eugene was born on June 17, 1955 in Saint George, South Carolina to the late Emma Lee Barnwell and late Ernest Cummings.  He joined Good Hope Baptist Church at an early age, where he served faithfully until his health declined.

Eugene received his formal education in the public schools of Dorchester County.  He graduated in 1973 from St. George High School.  Eugene's most memorable jobs after graduating high school were at Hutto Pontiac GMC of Saint George, South Carolina, Mac's Supply of Saint George, South Carolina and the South Carolina Department of Transportation in Saint George, South Carolina until he left due to an injury.

Eugene was preceded in death by three brothers, John, McCoy and Ernest Lee and one sister, Dorene.
