Emma Lee Stevens Britt, the tenth child of Ernest and Annie Bradley Stevens, was born on September 19, 1942, in Dorchester County, South Carolina. After a brief illness, she entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, April 20, 2010, at her home, surrounded by those who loved her. Confessing Jesus at an early age, she joined Shady Grove United Methodist Church and continued to confess HIM as her Personal Savior and Redeemer, she later joined Good Hope Baptist Church. Emma Lee knew without a shadow of a doubt who was her provider in the time of good and bad times. She took and excepted the things in life and knew that all would be alright because Jesus promised her that HE would never leave her. She stood on that promise until the end.

Emma Lee, was a member of several organizations that was dear to her heart: Trustees Wives Board, Usher Board, Pastor's Aide Committee, Circle #4 and she was a founding member of the Naomi Marshall Singers. Emma Lee also was a member of the Bishopville Community Club, because she loved flowers so much, this gave her the opportunity to showcase her beautiful yard. You could always find her planting flowers at the Dorchester Village where she lived.

Emma Lee was joined in Holy wedlock to John Clay Britt for 45 years and they were blessed to have one child — Rose. Later in life, Emma Lee met Leroy Ravenell, who was her love and her friend.

Emma Lee was preceded in death by a grandson, Nathaniel Trey Calloway.

Emma Lee leaves to cherish and remember the beauty that she bought into the world: one daughter, Rose Britt of Orangeburg, SC; a future son-in-law, Larry Shuler; three grandchildren, Courtney (Kenya) Britt of Harleyville, SC, September Britt and Joseph Terdon Turner of Orangeburg, SC; one great-grandchild, Chrisette Amya Kimpson of Orangeburg, SC; one special little girl Kennedy Brown, who called her 'Nanny' and she was Emma's Boo; a special and devoted friend, Leroy Ravenell; three sisters, Eartha Stevens and Nellie Stevensons of Brooklyn, New York and Betty Smith of St. George, SC; two brothers, Johnnie B. Stevens of Philadelphia, PA and John Ravenell of St. George, SC; ten sisters-in-law; Helen Stevens and Francis Stevens of Brooklyn, New York, Lottie Stevens of Harleyville, SC, a special one close to her heart, Maggie (Olin) Brown of Bowman, SC, Deloris (Joseph) Addison of St. George, SC, Ruth (Roger) Britt of Ruffin, SC, Laverne (Robert Lee) Britt of Georgia, Mildred (Roger) Stroman of Orangeburg, SC , Willa Dean Ross of Columbia, SC and Eartha Lee Britt; two very special friends, Carrie Ravenell and Ozzell Neals; and many nieces, nephews, special cousins and so many countless friends.
