Obituary

Mrs. Elouise "Mutt" Linder Mosley, 81, of Smoaks, South Carolina, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, at approximately 11:30 a.m. at her residence. She was born on February 5, 1944, in Smoaks, South Carolina, to the late Mr. Abner Linder and the late Mrs. Irene Hay Linder.

Elouise received her education in the public schools of Colleton County. At an early age, she joined Bethel United Methodist Church in Smoaks, South Carolina. After her marriage, she became a devoted member of Lovely Hill Baptist Church, where she faithfully served by singing in the Mass Choir and participating in the Ushers' Ministry. She worked diligently in God's vineyard with joy and pride.

She was employed by J.P. Stevens (CCX) in Walterboro, South Carolina, and later by the Colleton County School District. Elouise served as a school bus driver for Colleton County from 1993 until her retirement in 2014.

Elouise enjoyed cooking, fashion, driving, shopping, fishing, and, most of all, spending cherished time with her grandchildren.

In 1963, she was united in holy matrimony to Mr. James Mosley, Jr., and to this union one son was born.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Mosley, Jr.; her son, Craig Stokes Mosley; and her siblings, Johnnie L. Linder and Emma Lou Linder.

She will be lovingly remembered by Eboni C. (Chris) Simmons, the daughter she never had; her grandchildren, Shalamar Cusack (Jordan) Green, Ashanni A. Stokes, Leonard L. Oliver, and Christian Simmons; her siblings, Robert Linder of Walterboro, SC, Abner Linder of Smoaks, SC, Clara Jordan of Smoaks, SC, Deloris Campbell of Walterboro, SC, Rutha M. (J.B.) Jenkins, Rebecca Simmons, Luvenia Hodges, Hattie (Joseph) Chisolm, all of Smoaks, SC, Lonzo (Robercine) Linder of Orangeburg, SC, and James (Apostle Clemustine) Linder of Smoaks, SC; her sister-in-law, Betty (James) Williams; her brother-in-law, Jerome (Verlinda) Mosley; her goddaughters, Tyeshia Mosley and Lashawanda Jenkins Martin; her aunt, Ruth Shuler; special friends, Luella Linder and Doris Simmons; and a host of other relatives and friends.
