The Late Mrs. Ellen Harley Britt was called home to be
with her Lord on Monday, September 25. After an
extended illness, she passed away peacefully in St.
George Health Care Center in St. George, SC at the age
of 88. Ellen was friendly and full of enthusiasm. She loved
to laugh and talk. Her favorite saying was: "Thank the Lord
for life, health and strength."

She was born in Reevesville, SC on May 31, 1929 to
William and Mattie Mae Harley, who preceded her in
death. She grew up in Reevesville, SC surrounded by her
maternal grandmother, Mrs. Lula Reeves Elmore and
members of the Reeves Family.

She attended the Reevesville Public School System. In
her early life, Saint Matthew's Baptist Church became her
church home and the foundation for her walk with the Lord.
She was married to the Late Mr. Isadore Britt. She was a
devoted and beloved wife and mother. After establishing
her own family, she established memberships at Saint
Mark Baptist Church and Good Hope Baptist Church. She
became a member of Saint George church of Christ and
remained a member until her death.

She was the eldest of seven children, four sisters and
two brothers. Her sisters, Willie (Harley) West, Carrie
(Harley) Holloway and Eva (Harley) Mack preceded her in
death. She will forever be cherished and remembered by
her surviving brothers, Lendie (Iris) Harley and Tommy
Clay (Jim) Harley, her brother-in-law, Abraham West, all of
Titusville, FL and her 'baby' sister as she affectionately
called her, Mamie (Eugene) Johnson, also of Titusville, FL
She will be lovingly remembered by her four children:
Clay (Tracy) Britt of San Antonio, TX; Willa (Jasper)
Breaker of Reevesville, SC; Lottie (Andy) Williams of
Reevesville, SC and Charity (Timothy) Summers of
Summerville, SC. She was also Stepmother of six. Four of
her step-children, Johnny Britt, Rosa Lee (Britt) James,
Lelia Mae (Britt) Addison, and Joe Roy Britt preceded her
in death. She is survived by stepdaughters, Ollie (Wilman)
Bingley and Corine Kinlow.
She will forever be loved, remembered and cherished
by her twelve grand children. She will be remembered by a
host of step-grand children, great-grandchildren, nieces,
nephews, cousins, neighbors, friends and her St. George
church of Christ Family.
