Eliza Deborah Mack was born on August 27, 1942 to the late James Mack, Sr. and the late Josephine Rigby Mack, in Orangeburg County, SC. She attended school there and spent her younger days loving the company of her parents and brothers and sister. As a teenager Eliza "Bora" as she was affectionately called, moved to Brooklyn, New York with her parents and continued her education through high school.
She met and married John Johnson and God blessed them with children. She was an awesome homemaker and later followed her heart and began working as a Home Health Aide, where she assisted those in need daily. In the 1970's Eliza joined Mt. Sharon Higher Ground Pentecostal Church where she received Salvation and embarked on a rewarding life in the service of the Lord. As a faithful missionary, she became the hands and feet of Jesus, extending herself as a foster parent and caregiver for the young and elderly alike. With love and kindness she helped bring many souls to Christ.
In 1995, Mother Johnson moved back to her birth place in SC. She soon joined The Garden of Prayer Church in Orangeburg SC. She served on the Mothers Board, Ushers Board and drove one of the church vans. She looked forward to fellowship with the Lord and His people. One of her favorite events was the Rainbow Tea where she had the color yellow and always did it up real big.
This Matriarch took pleasure in surrounding herself with the Word, family, friends, food and some good gospel music. This would be a good day for her. But God had some perfect days ahead for her and called her home on November 19, 2016. "Many daughters have done virtuously but thou excellest them all" Prov. 31:29.
She was proceeded in death by brothers, Luther Mack (Georgia), Arthur Mack (Carol), James Mack (Joann), Theodore Mack, Leon Mack and sisters, Dorothy Mack and Ruth Mack.
