Elder Oliver Jerome Wright, lovingly referred to as "O.J." or "Baby Boy" was born April 21, 1979 in Dorchester, SC to Oliver Wright, Sr. and the late Arie B. Wright. O.J. gained his wings on the evening of August 16, 2013 at Trident Regional Medical Center in Charleston, SC surrounded by his loving and caring family after an extended illness.

O.J. was reared in Dorchester County, South Carolina where he matriculated in the public school system of Dorchester County. He was a graduate of the 1997 class of Harleyville-Ridgeville High School in Dorchester, SC. O.J. was gainfully employed with the South Carolina State Ports Authority, Charleston, SC until his health failed. He was also a school bus driver and shadow for Dorchester School District Four public school system. O.J. also worked as an auctioneer in his spare time.

O.J. loved farming and cooking, but most people will remember him as being on FIRE for the Lord. O.J. accepted Christ as his personal savior at an early age. He was a self taught and gifted musician who loved praising and worshiping Christ. He enjoyed spending time gathering with his family. He was an ordained minister, deacon and elder. He was also a Pastor and very devoted member of New Bethel Sounds of Praise where he worked with the youth department, transportation ministry and a member of the trustee board.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Esau and Cora Lee Rhames and paternal grandparents, John and Lela Wright.

He leaves to cherish his precious and loving memories, his loving and caring father, Oliver Wright, Sr. of the home; two sisters, Michelle (Derrick) Berry of Dorchester, SC and Lavette (Damon) Williams-Hughes of North Charleston, SC; two brothers, Robert (Melissa) Wright of Dorchester, SC and Jamal David Pinckney of Charleston, SC; step grandmother, Anna Laura Rhames of Walterboro, SC; seven uncles, Alvin Rhames, Herman Rhames, John Louis ( Carolyn) Rhames and John White, Sr. all of Dorchester, SC, Esau (Mary) Rhames of Long Island, NY, Ronald Rhames of Monticello, NY, and Joseph Rhames of Rochester, NY; eleven aunts, Jacqueline R. Smalls of Summerville, SC, Claireen (Alfred) Singletary, Annette (Kenneth) Gaddist, Margaret Wright and Patricia (Alonzo) Jonson all of Dorchester, SC, Elizabeth (Andrew) Felder, Edna (Edwin) Boyd both of St. George, SC, Anna Lee Ball of Philadelphia, PA, Cleo Harper of Brooklyn, NY and Lavern Wright of Orangeburg, SC; two nieces, Deveonia Berry and Ebony Berry both of Dorchester, SC, five nephews, Tyrek Williams and Damon Hughes, Jr. of North Charleston, SC, Zachariah Wright, Taylor Wright and Tyler Wright all of Dorchester, SC; three godchildren, Cameron Boyd of Harleyville, SC, Terrin Sterling Whitmore of Summerville, SC and Lauren Nia Frasier of Goose Creek, SC; a very special friend, Yolonda Smalls of North Charleston, SC and a host of other relatives and friends.
