Obituary

On Friday morning January 9, 2015, the angel of death beckoned Mother Edith Berry and she made her transition into life eternal.

Mother Edith was born one of five children to the late Jasper and Annabell Bryant on April 24, 1928.

Mother Edith attended the public schools of Dorchester County where she lived the entirety of her life. At an early age, she became a member of St. Paul AME Church where she was a loyal and faithful member serving in the capacity where she was needed. She was a member of the Missionary Society and the Senior Choir until her health declined. She was a loving Mother and joy to those who knew her. Her quiet, kind and compassionate spirit touched the lives of many to whom she became endeared.

She was united in holy matrimony to the late Robert Lewis Berry. This union was blessed with seven children. One son, Robert L. Berry, preceded her in death.

She was preceded in death by her siblings, Jasper Bryant, Jr., Richard Bryant, Mary Simmons and Rubin Bryant.

Survivors who mourn her passing and cherish her loving memories are her six daughters, Gloria (Elijah) Boyd of St. George, SC, Elizabeth Berry and Philippine Judy White of Harleyville, SC, Ruth Simmons and the Honorable Nettie B. Cusack of Dorchester, SC, and Philipstine Berry of the home and her loving and devoted adopted grandson, Jovon White of the home; one sister-in-law, Loretta Simmons; two brothers-in-law, George T.
