Obituary

On Thursday evening, November 10, 2016, God in His providence called His laborers on earth to an everlasting home the soul of Mr. Eddie Lee Pauls. We, the Pauls family, bow in humble submission of God, rejoicing that his life was well spent preparing for this leg of a journey.

Eddie Lee Pauls, son of the late Odom and Larlene Pauls entered this earthly world on November 23, 1938 in Round O, South Carolina. He was preceded in death by his sister, Harriet Pauls Salley.

Eddie joined Wesley Grove United Methodist Church at an early age and was brought up in the Christian faith.

Eddie was educated in the Colleton County School System and graduated in 1956 from Colleton High School.

After graduation, Eddie departed for Boston, Mass. for a few months then headed for Washington, DC where he would spend the next sixty years. He was employed by the Federal Government in the Government Printing Office where he retired after 35 years of stellar service, never missing a day of work. Afterwards, Eddie worked at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception until his illness.

Eddie returned to South Carolina in 2014 to assume sole responsibility for the health care of his eldest and youngest sisters, with assistance from his daughter, Karen.

Eddie enjoyed cooking, shopping at the market and watching football with daughter, Karen. He loved playing the lottery, visiting with family and friends and mentoring the younger men in the community.

Eddie leaves to cherish his fond memories, the joy of his life, a loving and devoted daughter, Karen Elaine White of Washington, DC; two beautiful and loving sisters, Sarah Perkins of Walterboro, South Carolina and Evelyn Stephens of Brooklyn, NY; the supportive and caring mother and brother of his daughter, Elaine White and John White of Washington, DC; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
