Collins, Eartha Louise (nee Ott)
Eartha Collins of Saint George, South Carolina passed away on September 6 th , 2020 at the age of 84.
She was a native of Reevesville, South Carolina; Eartha attended Williams Memorial High School, before moving to New York City. She worked for many years at Aurora Hot Wheels, Joyva and Bhrags. Upon retirement she returned to South Carolina, Eartha purchased her home in Saint George, where she lived until her passing.
During her retirement, Eartha volunteered at the David Sojourner Senior Citizen Center, participating in their Meals on Wheels program, delivering meals to seniors. Her free time was spent knitting and crocheting gifts for family and friends, as well as teaching others the crafts. Additionally, she was a member of a local garden club.
Eartha is preceded in death by her parents, Augustus and Shirley Ott; siblings Lenwood, Eugene, Riley and Joe; her husband Willie Rivers and ex-husband William Clyde Collins.
Eartha is survived by her five children William (Sherolyn) (Plainfield, NJ), Jeffery (Connie) (Harlem, NY), Cecelia (Brooklyn, NY), Winifred (Brooklyn, NY) and Angela (Fayetteville, NC); one sister, Barbara Ott (Brooklyn, NY); her four grandchildren, Jeffrey Jr. (Brooklyn, NY), Aaron (Calista) (Brooklyn, NY), Sharoyah (Corey) (Humble, TX), and Shamel (Brooklyn, NY); two step grandchildren, Daniel (Houston, TX) and Yancey (Concord, NC); one great granddaughter, Royal (Humble, TX); two step great granddaughters, Sharisse and Camryn (both Memphis, TN) ; one step great grandson, Saed (Plainfield, NJ); four sisters-in- law, Eunice (Lenwood) (St. George, SC), Charlotte (Riley) (Brooklyn, NY), Ebenezer Wade (Grover, SC) and Bertha Salley (Walterboro, SC); her attentive nephew, Ernest (St. George, SC), a host of cousins, nieces and nephews; as well as dear friends, Celeste Green (St. George, SC), Easter Phillips (Goldsboro, NC) and Bernice Cobb (Reevesville, SC).
