Obituary

On August 20, 2014, God stopped by the home of Douglas McArthur Johnson. He whispered to him "take My hand, Douglas, let me lead you to the unknown land, where we will feast on milk and honey"; after an extended illness, while being surrounded by his loving family.

Douglas McArthur Johnson was born on December 7, 1942. He united himself with St. Daniel UM Church at an early age. He was employed by Star Redi Mix for 25 years. He was the son of the late Wesley and Annie Pearl Johnson. He attended Elmore Elementary School in Dorchester and later attended Kennedy High School in Harleyville.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Wesley Johnson, Jr., Willie Louis Grant and Charlie Leon Grant; one sister, Laurether Badie.

He leaves to cherish his memories his loving wife, Margie Johnson of 49 years; daughter, Jackie Denise Johnson of Greenwood, SC; son, McArthur (Shirley) Sanders of Summerville, SC; sisters, Carolyn Rhames, Frizella Heath, Ellen Ruth Boyd all of Dorchester, SC and Sarah Newton of Harleyville, SC; one brother, Johnny (Joann) Johnson of Dorchester, SC; two grandsons, Javar Sanders of Summerville, SC and Donya Johnson of Greenwood, SC; two great grandchildren Chasa Sanders and Josiac Sanders both of Summerville, SC; five brothers-in-law, five sisters-in-law; a host of other relatives and friends.
