Mrs. Dorothy Martino Hill, was born on January 11, 1938 in Dorchester County, South Carolina to the late Wilson and Ida Mae Martino. She departed this life on Friday, March 27, 2009.

Mrs. Dot, as she was affectionately known, was educated in the public schools of Dorchester County. She was a perfect mother in every way. You would never have known when she had a bad day because she always had a smile on her face. Mrs. Dot could always be found doing what she loved the most – tending to her chickens and her garden. Everyone could always find a meal and a heartfelt welcome in her home.

Mrs. Dot's motto was, "You are going to church, you will not be rolled down the church aisle and be a center piece."

At an early age, Mrs. Dot joined St. Matthews Baptist Church were she was guided by Dea. West and Dea. Nathaniel Davis. She served on the usher board until her failing health. Mrs. Dot loved the church and loved the Lord.

Mrs. Dot met and fell in love with the late Peter "Buster" Hill, Jr. This union was blessed with seven children. Mrs. Dot loved her husband and her children who were the center of her life. Her baby daughter, Peggy Sue Hill, preceded her in death.

Mrs. Dot, will be gone from this world but never from our hearts and minds, we will miss her dearly. Mrs. Dot leaves to remember her life: six daughters, Geraldine Martino of Newark, New Jersey, Valerie (John Clay) Britt of Orangeburg, SC, Dorothy Lee (Franklin) Elmore, Green Sea, SC, Deborah Elmore, Reevesville, SC, Priscilla (Richard) Taylor, Holly Hill, SC and Patricia Hill, St. George, SC; one son, Timothy Hill, St. George, SC; two brothers, Ernest (Gloria) Martino, St. George, SC, and Elex (Freddie) Martino, Titusville, FL; five sisters-in-law, Valerie Bellinger, Queens, NY, Thelma Young, Buffalo, NY, Helen Fripp, Reevesville, SC, Queenie Hill, Winston Salem, NC and Annie V. Martino, St. George, SC; six granddaughters; four grandsons, five great-grandchildren; two close friends, Gloria Elmore and Deloris Elmore; a new friend, Ms. Mattie Lowery, Charleston, SC; and a host of devoted relatives and friends.
