On June 27, 1948, Dillard Hughes, Jr. was born to the late Dillard Hughes, Sr. and Herphine W. Hughes in Summerville, South Carolina.
A Time to Plant
He received his formal education in the Dorchester County School System. He was a graduate of Jenkins Hill High School class of 1965. He served in the Unites States Army for
eight years. He was a member of St. John Missionary Baptist Church. He was a member of the SJBC Male Choir and served as church sexton.
A Time to Laugh
He met and married Hennetta Williams. To this union three children were born. Throughout life, he loved to spend time with his family and friends. He often honored us all with his good cooking.
A Time to Rest
Dill was affectionately known to his family and friends will be remembered in the hearts and minds of his loving sister, Shirley Brown of Ridgeville, SC; five children, Larry of San Jose, CA, Tia of Tupelo, MS, Chris (Shaye) of Killeen, TX, Erin and Eric of Charleston; two grandchildren, Aaliyah and Dillard; a dear and devoted friend Eleanor Moultrie; a loving niece, Tamiko James of Columbia, SC and a nephew, Thomas Brown of North Charleston, SC; a special cousin, Clarance Hughes of Ridgeville, SC; a host of grand nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends.
