Dexter
Walker
Oct 16, 1968 — Jul 7, 2026
To know him was to love him, his charm, his booming laugh, his big bear hugs, and his caring heart.
Dexter Walker was born on October 16, 1968, in Brooklyn, NY to Mr. Sammie Walker and the late Alice Joann Canty. Dexter departed this life on July 7, 2026, following an extended illness, at his home surrounded by family.
Dexter grew up in the town of Reevesville, SC where he was loved by his community and always extended a helping hand to anyone in need. As a child he loved cookies; so much that his family nicknamed him "Cookie Monster". Dexter attended Dorchester County schools and graduated from St. George High School.
Dexter was an amazing cook and baker. He used his talent to feed a multitude of people in different restaurants along the East Coast as a cook. Dexter was a hard-working man and a great friend to many. Dexter was a BIG MAN in stature but, his larger-than-life personality is what made him unforgettable.
Dexter was preceded in death by his mother, Alice J. Canty; his brother, Samwell Walker; and his adopted mother, Jeanette Walker Riley.
He leaves to cherish his memories: his father, Sammie Walker of North Charleston, SC; his children; Dexter L. Hopkins (Atlanta, GA); Dexter Walker (Summerville, SC); DaVonte Walker (St. George, SC); Chianti Harris (Titusville, FL); Demetrius Walker (Titusville, Fl); Diante Walker (Titusville, FL); One brother, Darryl Walker (Palm Bay, FL); two sisters, Ebony Watson (New York, NY); Betty Reeves (Reevesville, SC); One Sister-In-Law, Costellia Walker (Palm Bay, FL); his aunt, of the home, Wilhelmina Walker (Blake and Yancy); a special niece, Tiffany Reeves; his very close friends: Paula Breaker; Cedric Moore and Tyrone Reeves; 6 grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
