The life of Deacon Ellard V Britt was filled with many unexpected moments and a treasure trove of love. Born in Dorchester County 66 years ago, he was unaware of the many plans God had in store for him. Therefore with much respect, we pen these few words regarding our beloved husband and father.

Vincent, known to many as "Vint" was the youngest son of the late Preston Britt, Sr. and Birdie Mae Jennings Britt. He grew up in the St. George, Texas Community and attended the public schools of Dorchester County. After graduation he began his career in the trucking industry as a tour bus driver. This would lead to many open positions for him.

Having driven tractors and heavy equipment on the farm attributed to his experience as a trusted commercial driver. He was a tour bus driver for Steward Tours, Pete Green Bus Co., and Haskell Tours. The many companies he worked for consisted of C. W Horton Trucking Co., Franklin Haynes, Westbury Trucking Co., Island Dirt, Victor Stephens Logging Co., Ellard V Britt Trucking, and Keith Britt Trucking & Construction Co., from which he retired after 30 years of loyal employment.

Vincent was a lifelong member of St. Mark Baptist Church where he served as male chorus president, asst. church treasurer to general treasurer, member of the trustee board, and Sunday school teacher for many years. The culmination of his dedication to the Lord and service to the church, he was ordained as Deacon Ellard V Britt on June 21, 2015. He was also a trustee for the St. Paul Campground.

For almost 50 years his heart belonged to one queen, and on November 25, 1978, he married his middle school sweetheart, Jeanette Lary-Britt. Their union was blessed with two princesses, Tiffany and Kacy. Throughout his lifetime he dedicated himself to the care of his family. He was his wifes king and his daughters hero. There was never a dull moment in the Britt household. He led by godly example and with the grace of a father.

No one can match his boisterous spirit, wide smile and unforgettable laughter. He was a Jack of all trades and if he wasn't able to fix it, he knew someone who could. He was a world class traveler, a legendary fisherman, an original member of the Long Branch Hunting Club of the Texas Community, a lover of animals-horses and Brownie mostly. He enjoyed playing Santa at family gatherings and Christmas programs. He loved the people of the community and never met a stranger. His persona was bigger than life.

During the last few years as his health declined, he inspired others with his sense of humor. He was a fighter, and regardless of his pain, he would say, "its a good day. " His faith was unwavering and he looked forward to seeing his Lord and Savior.

Precious memories will remain with his devoted wife, Jeanette Britt; his two princesses, Tiffany Britt-Hopkins (Terrance) and Kacy Britt (Robert Smith); grandchildren, Jaylan Hopkins all of St. George, SC and Jerell Hopkins of Spartanburg, SC, Brittany Washington (Ray)and Robert R. Smith; great grandchild, Cameron Washington,· brothers, Preston Britt, Jr. (Margaret) of Seattle, WA and Amos "Pibb" Lewis (Cassandra) of Titusville, FL and sisters, Lula McKinney, Lillie Britt both of St. George, SC, Mayola Taylor (Reggie) of Camden, SC and Deloris Lewis-Ray (David) of Titusville, FL; aunts, Mrs. Lucille Britt of St. George, SC, Mrs. Mary Primus of Harleyville, SC and Dr. Clara Dixon Britt of St. George, SC; godchildren, Debbie Browder (Richard) of Columbia, SC, Eric Robinson of Whitesville, NC, and Jenyna Primus of Brooklyn, NY; his beloved schnauzer, Brownie Britt; brothers and sisters-in-law, James Williams (Shirley), John Moorer (Sherrie), James Moorer (Tiffany), Terry Bradley (Angela), Jacqueline Williams, Jasmine Williams and Rochelle Smith (Alexander); nieces, nephews, cousins; and special friends to numerous to list.
