With saddened hearts, we wish to inform you of the glory entrance of our Dad, Grand-daddy, Pops, Deacon Amos Lewis, on Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2014, surrounded by his family.
Amos Lewis was the son of the late Archie and Idella Lewis. A man of faith and vision, he was the founder of the former Sunset Funeral Home of Titusville, Florida, which later evolved into Lewis-Ray Mortuary Inc., where his daughter is the owner and director. Mr. Lewis proudly served his community for over 40 years and was known far and wide as a man who gave back.
He was ordained a Deacon in 1964 at St. James Missionary Baptist Church, Mims, Florida, and served as board chairman during various pastoralships. He lent his melodious tenor voice to the various choirs and recently attended services singing his favorite song,"Look where He brought me from." Always humble, never taking credit for himself, he gave all thanks to the God he served.
He was a mentor, advisor, warrior for the less fortunate, and a king to his family who left his mark on this earth.
Cherishing the legacy of a humble man of faith are his devoted children, Deloris Lewis-Ray Ferguson (David) of Titusville, Mitchell D. Lewis of Mims, Amos M. Lewis and the sons and daughter of his heart, Henry AL and Janice Carmichael and Dennis Young, all of Titusville; beloved grandchildren, Wendy Ray, Michael and Antoinette James, Amory and Rhonda James, Rontaveus Lewis, Rhea Ray, Nishelle and Tony Banner, Chantal Sherrod, Brooke Rich, Carlos and Azariah Carmichael, and Daron Woods; great-grandchildren, Kobe, Kailene, Travis, Korron, Korie, Kora, Tristian, Talayiah, Koen, Kenneth, Keyon, Kourtney, AJ, Ariana, Micah, Dontay and Deja, and Asia; four great-great-grandchildren; siblings Morris Phillips, Shirley Britt, Jeremiah Phillips (Martha), James Kelly Sr., Woodrow Edwards and Bernice K. Shafer; special sisters Margaret B. Stokes and Clara D. Britt; aunts/uncles, Thaddeus Jenkins, Willie Mae Ross and John W. Lewis; special devoted cousins Idella W. Primus, Elden Williams and Leroy Williams; and brothers-in-law Edward Felder and Robert Felder.
