Dannie Lee Nelson was born in Ridgeville, South Carolina, on November 5, 1969.  Among his peers, he was well-liked and well-respected.  He was a strong, courageous, protective, and devoted individual.  He was the son of the late Gilbert Nelson and Romaine Lucinda Pryor Nelson.

Dannie was educated in the Dorchester County Public School System, attending Harleyville-Ridgeville High School.

At a young age, Dannie accepted Christ as his Lord and savior and joined Zion Pilgrim Christian Church.

Dannie was a jack of all trades, who held many jobs under his belt.  He stared as a mechanic with his uncle Sam, farmer, and butcher at Winningham Meats.  He was a well-rounded person and would help anyone who was in need.

Dannie was truly one of a kind, he enjoyed being able to sit under an oak tree and share stories and laugh with those of the Ridgeville Community. He enjoyed watching football and cheering on his favorite team the Pittsburg Steelers.

Dannie was preceded in death by his uncles, Obediah (Standella) Pryor, David Pryor, Leslie Spann, and Arthur Pryor; his aunts, Martha (Matthew) Lambright, Anna Laura (Andrew) Kitt, Lillie Bell (Nathaniel) Hart, and Mary Magdalene White.

Dannie leaves to cherish his memories, his brothers, Robert Aiken and Gary Nelson (Felicia Gaddist) of Ridgeville, and Ricky Nelson (Kawaii) of Summerville; sisters, Crystal Nelson of St. George, Terri Johnson of Goose Creek and Patrice Nelson of Charleston; aunts, Carrina Aiken and Janet Pryor of Ridgeville, Lula Mae (Wilton) Williams and Georgia Bell Pryor of Summerville SC; nephews, Ravon Nelson, Christopher Martino, Marquez Cobbs, Davon Vereen, Khalen Nelson, AJ Nelson, Rashawn Nelson, and Jeron McCants Jr.; nieces, Charisse Nelson, Kiersten Martino, Jada Crockett, and Arianna McCants; a host of cousins and friends.
