Dannie Utsey, Jr. was born on February 3, 1953, in St. George, SC to the late Daisy Queen and Dannie Utsey in a loving and supportive home. God opened his heavenly gates for him on Saturday, August 31, 2025. He brought much joy to everyone he met with laughter and jokes. From a young age, Dannie Jr. displayed an insatiable curiosity and a keen intellect, often found immersed in race cars and riding motorcycles. He attended St. George Public Schools. Dannie dedicated 52 years with United Contractor where he retired.
Dannie's life was marked by deep compassion, unwavering integrity, and a quiet strength. He was a devoted son, cherished brother, loving uncle, an awesome companion, phenomenal step-dad and grandfather. His radiant smile and joking energy left an indelible mark on everyone he met. Dannie's legacy is one of intellectual curiosity, boundless generosity, and a commitment to making the world a better place through laughter and jokes. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered for his gentle spirit and profound impact.
He leaves to cherish his memories: sister, Martha Ann Mosley; brother, Joe Louise (Jerilyn) Utsey; aunt, Wilma Whetstone of Bronx, NY; one nephew, Nathan Mosley and three nieces, Carrie Snider of Columbia, SC, Danielle Mosley of Branchville, SC and Josetta Singleton of Grover, SC; great nieces, Jalaya Singleton of Grover, SC, Heaven Williams of Grover, SC, Journi Snider of Columbia, SC, Caniya Snider of Columbia, SC and TyTionna Stephens of Orangeburg, SC; great nephews, Christian Snider of Columbia, SC, Tre'shawn Stephens, Cayson Koger, Dallas Koger, Dillon Koger and Carson Koger of all Branchville, SC and Jordan Jones of Grover, SC; longtime companion, Evageline Burton of McCormick, SC; a daughter he helped raised Quanda Gardner of Greenwood, SC; a son, he helped raised Antwan Gardner of McCormick, SC; grandsons he helped raised, Kinterrius Brown and Seven Smith both of Greenwood, SC; granddaughters he helped raised, Ty'Kiria Coates, and Quiniayah Smith both of Greenwood, SC; great grandchildren he helped raised, Messiah, Kennedy, Harmony, Dallas, Kamerson, Reagan, and Noah; a host of cousins and friends.
