On May 23, 2017, Mr. Dan Edward Stevens slept away peacefully with his loving and devoted wife beside him. Dan, the son of the late Burnell Stevens and Katie Bell Carson Stevens was born October 23, 1939 in St. George, SC.
At an early age Dan joined Good Hope Baptist Church in St. George, SC, where he was a member of Circle # 1.
Dan was educated in the public schools of Dorchester County, where he graduated from Williams Memorial High School in 1958. Shortly after high school Dan migrated to New York. New York is where Dan acquired the trade of carpentry. He worked as a carpenter for over thirty years until he returned to his home town of St. George. In 1990 he returned home to St. George, SC, where he began working for Dorchester County. In 2005 he retired from the county.
In 1960 Dan married the love his life Caroline Thompson. They were happily married for fifty six years. This union was blessed with five children.
Dan was a very quiet and humble man. He enjoyed fellowshipping with everyone. He was a family man who took pride in his children and grandchildren.
Dan was preceded in death by one son, Bernard Stevens; one brother, Laurie Stevens and one sister Edna Mae Stevens Utsey.
He leaves to cherish his loving memories his devoted wife, Caroline Stevens, three sons, Lionel (Rhonda) Stevens of Staten Island, NY, Keith Stevens of Brooklyn, New York and Lamont (Lisa) Stevens of St. George, SC; one daughter, Deidre Stevens of Brooklyn, NY; one sister, Bernice Cobbs of Reevesville, SC; daughter-in-law, Saska Gordon of Brooklyn, NY; three sisters-in-law, Mary Lee Goodwine, Pastor Rosa Lee Thompson and Noemia (Oscar) Dozier; ten grandchildren, Lionel Stevens, Keith Stevens, Faith Stevens, Nicole Stevens, Lesley Stevens, Leah Stevens, Elijah Stevens, Talesha Weston, Jahdaya Stevens and Isiah Stevens; five great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
