Mrs. Daisy Bell Lemon Stephens was born on May 10, 1939 to the late Norman Lemon, Sr. and Viola Boyd Lemon.  She grew up in the Harleyville, South Carolina area and attended the public schools in Dorchester County.

At an early age she joined St. Paul AME Church, now Greater St. Paul AME Church.  As years passed she moved her membership to Trinity United Methodist Church in St. George, SC where she served on the kitchen committee, senior choir, the youth department, class leader, usher board, and steward board until her health failed.

Daisy was affectionately known to her family and friends as "Duck".  She was employed by Dorchester School District # 4 as a food service worker for 32 years before retiring.

On May 25, 1960 she was joined in holy matrimony to the late Wilma Gardner.  This union was blessed with five children. She later married Rudolph Stephens in November of 1996.

To know Daisy was to love her.  She was always willing to lend a hand, a smile and many words of encouragement.  She was a great cook; known for her good ole macaroni and cheese, lemon pies and collard greens.

She took pride in her grandchildren but had tremendous joy with her great grands.

She was preceded in death by her two sisters: Neomi Smith and Maxine Lemon; three brothers, Matthew Boyd, Raymond Lemon and Norman Lemon, Jr.; a grandson, Larry "LJ" Williams; great grandson, Kercheval Elmore; and a son-in-law, Harry Britt, Jr.

She leaves sweet and loving memories to her husband, Rudolph Stephens; four caring daughters, Vida Gardner and Helen (Winchell) Asbury both of Harleyville, SC; Minnie G. Britt and Sander Gardner-Elmore both of St. George, SC; two loving sons, Edward (Floretha) Lemon of Maryland and Furman (Evone) Gardner of St. George, SC; a grand reared in the home, Sheketa Gardner; a niece she took as her daughter, Patsy (Robert) Jones; adopted son, Daniel Wamer; four sisters, Alice Dickey of St. George, SC, Lillie Lemon of Oneonta, NY, Sandra Lemon and Jackie Sweat both of New York, NY; two brothers, Ray (Lavern) Lemon of Harleyville, SC and Glenny Sweat of New York; one uncle, Julius (Annie) Boyd of Dorchester, SC; two brothers-in-law, Carlisle (Mary Ann) Stephens and Clifton (Sara) both of Connecticut; three sisters-in-law, Joann Evans, Ruby (Herbert) Johnson both of Connecticut and Polly Gardner of Haryville; nine step children; twenty-seven grandchildren, Sheketa, Katrina, Leticia, Jackie, Tea'Ceshia, Di'anjuoa, Felecia, Tamyia, Edward, Quinton, Anthony, Sha'heem, Shcovie, Marcus, Dewayne, Shawn, Travanti, Darius, Devin, Sha'Kaji, Coderi, Harry III, Kercheval, Furman, Kashif, Gabriel and her last grand Kalieb; forty-one great grandchildren; her phone buddies, Mrs. Gloria Brown and Mrs. Fannie Brice; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and two other sisters-in-law.
