Obituary

Corrie Stevens Simmons was born in Dorchester County SC on June 26, 1926, to the late Mr. William Stevens and Mrs. Anna Green Stevens. She entered Heaven's gate on March 24, 2018, while at her daughter's residence.

A loving wife, mother and homemaker, Corrie was an excellent cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends. Corrie had unwavering faith in God. She was a faithful member of New Grace United Methodist Church, formerly, St. Luke United Methodist Church where she served on the Missionary board, sung on the choir and attended Sunday School until her health declined. She was a virtuous woman after God's
own heart. She loved and was loved by everyone who encountered her.

While attending public schools, she met the love of her life, Ben Simmons, Jr., known to her as Ben, Jr. The two were joined in holy matrimony until his passing in 2012. They were blessed with twelve children.

Corrie accepted Christ in her life at an early age. Anyone who knew her would tell you how much she loved church and couldn't get enough of talking about it. She loved singing. While dealing with her sickness, she would still come to church and bless everyone with a song that was on her heart.

She had six sisters, Nell Kelly, Mary Bowman, Lalar Britt, Marietta Henderson, Martha Green and Mattie Bryant; and three brothers, Charles Stevens, Rut Stevens and Lonnie (Cale) Stevens all who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Ben Simmons, Jr.

She is survived by her twelve children: Ben Stevens, Jr., Nathaniel Simmons, Annie Lee (Tommy) Dereef, Clarence (Clayrene) Simmons, Carl (Gladys Ele') Simmons, Johnnie C. Simmons, Carolyn (James) Butler, Dianna (Percy) Jackson, Gloria (Anthony) Myers, Lettie Ann (Nathaniel) Williams, Leaundra (Dianna) Simmons and Wendell Simmons; 39 grandchildren, 48 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; her presence will be missed by her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Roy Simmons, Allen (Marie) Simmons, Herbert Simmons and Mary Simmons all of St. George, SC, Adolph Simmons of New Jersey and Joe (Mary) Simmons of Savannah Georgia; a host of nieces, nephews,
extended relatives and friends. Corrie will also be missed by all her devoted caregivers:Bernice Gilbert, Brenda Jamison, Sherell, Tammy Williams, Julia Henderson and Barbara Britt.
