He was educated in Ben Franklin High School and furthered his education at Cheny State University. After college, he went to work at Medical College of PA.
He was a member of Calvary Methodist Church.
Clay leaves to cherish fond memories: a daughter, Royal Lemon of Philadelphia, PA; parents, Harris and Ruby Lemon of St. George, SC; one brother, Patrick Lemon of Philadelphia, PA; seven aunts, Annie (Artis) Dozier of Brooklyn, NY, Florie B. Edwards of Greenwood, SC, Marvie (Michael) Brown of Harleyville, SC, Flora Barton of Orangeburg, SC, Eloise Martino, Ruby Pooser and Barbara (Frank) White all of St. George, SC; a very special friend, Elizabeth Johnson of Philadelphia, PA; Doris and Shanudell of Philadelphia, PA; nieces, nephews; a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.
