Clarence Alexander Middleton Jr., affectionately known as "Bubba," was called home to be with the Lord on June 20, 2025, in his hometown of Charleston, South Carolina.

Born on February 1, 1958, in Charleston, Clarence was the second of eleven children born to Apostle Ruth Middleton-Sanders and the late Apostle Clarence Alexander Middleton Sr. From a young age, Clarence embraced a life rooted in service, faith, and hard work—values he carried throughout his life and passed on to those around him.

Clarence lived in New York City, in the Brooklyn neighborhood of Bedford-Stuyvesant, where he attended JHS 271. He later attended East New York High School in Brooklyn, NY, and graduated with honors from NYC Job Corps. With pride and humor, he often said he earned his master's degree from "The School of Hard Knocks." A lifelong learner, Clarence was both a teacher and student of life—sharing his wisdom through experience, faith, and laughter.

Clarence was a man of many talents and a force of nature. A master brick mason, a skilled carpenter, a "sheetrock whisperer," and a devoted church custodian, he treated every house of worship with reverence and joy. Whether he was building, fixing, cleaning, or cooking (which he did often—and well), his craftsmanship and care earned him deep respect across the East Coast. He never met a mudding job—or a person—he couldn't smooth over with a little love and laughter.

He was also a missionary to the underserved, offering his hands, heart, and hope wherever it was needed. A faithful member of the World-Wide Deliverance Church, Clarence sang joyfully in the choir and with his gospel quartet, The Bible Allstars, alongside his brothers. His God-given voice and natural gift for harmony lifted spirits and filled rooms with joy. Clarence had a handshake as firm as his faith and hugs warmer than Sunday dinner. He loved church, music, good food, clean clothes—with a crease so sharp your pants could march off without you—and most of all, his family. He could lift your soul with a song, and just as quickly, humble you at the card table, or serve you a mean cut on the handball court, he could make you laugh with ease, and bring comfort with his presence.

He was a loving husband, a proud father, a hands-on grandfather, and a soft-hearted great-grandfather. He never missed a moment to show up, cheer on, or check in. If you were lucky enough to know him, you had a lifelong friend.

Clarence is survived by his devoted wife, Sinthera Middleton; his daughter and "baby girl," Crystal Lashoni Middleton; his grandchildren: Shaide Symphony Middleton, Kedari Aryn Matthews, and Akira Cheyenne Trumpet (Kenneth Dinnoo); and his great-grandchildren: Legacy Zohara Dinnoo, Zaire Alexander Middleton, and Infinite Prince Dinnoo. Through marriage, he embraced another daughter, Hanukkah Watson (Benjamin III), and grandsons Benjamin IV, Brandon, and Baron Watson. He is also survived by his loving mother, Apostle Ruth Middleton-Sanders; his brothers: Herman (the late Mary), Robert (Pernell), Alfonzo (Karen), Jessie (Oddeta), Larry (Debbie), and Johnathan (Veronica) Middleton; his sisters: Elaine Williams (Eric) and Latonia Pope (Charles); godchildren: Robert Middleton Jr., Alexandria Middleton, Brittany Middleton, Angel Nicole Jordan, Elizabeth Edwards, and Shyanne Askew, and a wide and beautiful circle of, nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, in-laws, outlaws, and chosen family too great to name—but none forgotten. He now joins in glory his father, Apostle Clarence Middleton Sr.; his siblings, Darrien and Naomi Middleton; and his godmother, Mary Louise Middleton—no doubt catching up, singing loud, and putting his heavenly hands to work.

Clarence lived his life with unwavering faith, unmatched generosity, and a heart open to all. His presence was a gift, his laughter a melody, and his love a lasting legacy.
