Obituary

Charlie Dan Coaxum was born August 3, 1946 in Cottageville, South Carolina. He was the fifth of ten children born to Ruby Eligon Coaxum and Mannie Siah Coaxum. He departed this life Sunday, February 12, 2017 at 6:15 a.m. at the Pruitt Nursing Care in Walterboro, South Carolina after an extended illness.

Charlie was educated in the Public Schools of Colleton County. He retired from JP Stevenson after 35 years of service. After retirement, he worked with various other construction companies.

At an early age he joined Mount Zion AME Church and in later years he joined Bethel Baptist Church.

Charlie was married to the late Betty Primus Coaxum and to this union two sons were born.

Charlie was a friend to all who knew him. To know him was to love him.

Charlie was preceded in death by his wife Betty, three brothers, Esdorn, John (Bubba), and Joe Coaxum, one sister, Lena Coaxum Williams and a nephew, Tyson Brown.

He leaves to cherish his memories: two sons, Rodney (Michelle) Coaxum of Summerville, SC and Craig Coaxum of Titusville, FL; one daughter, Stephanie (Ken) Robinson of Stone Mountian, GA; three sisters, Sarah (Joseph) Goff of Walterboro, SC, Luetricia (Spencer) Coaxum of Savannah, GA and Mae Frances (Harry) Brown of Walterboro, SC; one brother, George (Gloria) of Round O, SC; three sisters-in-law, Marie Coaxum of Cottageville, SC, Connie Coaxum of St. George, SC and Flora Mae (Wilbur) Cobbs of Grover, SC; one brother-in-law, Rudolph Primus of Louisiana; ten grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
