Charles Grant, son of the late Charlie Bates and Bessie Grant Bates was born September 4, 1964, in Walterboro, South Carolina.  On Monday, March 28, 2022, at Medical University of South Carolina, he traded time for eternity.

He received his formal education within the public school system of Colleton County and was employed with various Auto Mechanic Companies as a master mechanic.  When his health began to fail, he was employed with Ladson Recycling.  Also, he was the owner of Grant's Tires.

He joined New Jerusalem of Walterboro, SC at an early age and later moved his membership to Good Hope Baptist Church in Saint George, South Carolina.

He was joined in Holy Matrimony to Ms. Annette Neals in February of 1992, and to this union, two children were born.

Charles was a family man; he loved spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren, and other family members.  He was affectionately known as "Uncle Chuck" to many in the community.  A people person: his charisma was always on time.  He was very passionate about fishing and other outdoor sports.  There was never a dull moment around him. His presence in our lives will forever be cherished and missed.

He was proceeded in death by his parents; his son, Charles "Bubba" Grant Jr.; and his brother, Marion Jerome Grant.

He leaves to cherish his memories, a devoted wife, Annette Grant of St. George, SC; one daughter, Amber Grant of St. George, SC; one daughter- in-law, Danielle Council of St. George, SC; Six grandchildren, Ny'Kabrien, Aubrey, Ava, Sakari, Sy'Mir, and Emersyn; Mother-in-law, Nancy Neals of St. George, SC; Father-in-law, Joseph Neals of St. George, SC; one brother, Douglas Grant of Charleston, SC; four sisters, Martha Hodges of Smoaks, SC; Eleanor (Isreal) Hodges of  Walterboro, SC; Charlene (James) Jenkins of Green Pond, SC, and Priscilla (John) Addison of  St. George, SC; a brother-in-law, Joseph (Sherrie) Neals, Jr of St. George, SC; and a sister-in-law, Veronica Peppers of St. George, SC; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
