Ms. Cathy Rowena Carson "NaNa" was called home by the Lord peacefully on October 10, 2023 with her daughter by her side after an extended illness.  Cathy a loving soul was born on May 12, 1959 in Brooklyn, NY.  Cathy was the daughter of the late John H. Carson and the late Ruthie Lary Carson.

Cathy accepted the Lord Jesus as her personal savior and was baptized.  She joined Shiloh Baptist Church in Brooklyn, NY.

Cathy attended the public schools in Brooklyn, NY.  She graduated with honors from Abraham Lincoln High School in Brooklyn, NY.  She also attended college in New York.  Cathy was employed by the Department of Sanitation in New York City for more than twenty years.  She was known as "Sergeant Carson."  She was a devoted worker.

Cathy later relocated to St. George, SC in 2007, which became her home.  She had a heart of gold and everyone she encountered enjoyed her company.  She enjoyed spending time with LaRhonda and Aliyah who she was proud of and dedicated to.  She also enjoyed reminiscing about her baby Ashley, and watching late night movies.  Cathy had the gift for gab, an open heart, and a great listener with a heartful spirit.  She loved making her phone calls, shopping, and spending time and catching up with family.

Cathy's generous and caring soul filled the room with smiles and greetings.  If you knew her you would have loved her.  She was educated, stylish and very outgoing.  All Cathy wanted was peace among her family, and to love and care for one another.  We will miss her late night and early morning calls, her ongoing stories, and warm smiles.

Cathy was preceded in death by her parents and her daughter, Ashley Claire Carson.

Cathy leaves to cherish precious memories, one devoted daughter, LaRhonda Carson and  one granddaughter, Aliyah Carson both of the home; one loving sister, Shanna Carson, two loving nephews and two loving nieces, Ron Anderson, Jaida Lynch, Johnathan & Destiny Townsend all of Summerville, SC;  special sisters & brother, Cynthia & Marcus Dungee and Joyce Harrington; dedicated cousins, Ernie Boneparte, Renea Carson, Sanford, Sandy, Michael, Arnold, Garrett, Chris, Derrick "Coon" Carson; dedicated friend Troy Martino; uncles and aunts, Nathaniel (Betty) Carson, Samuel "Top" Carson, Ulysee (Barbara) Carson, Judy Carson, Dora Bell Lary, Corine Gadson, Arrie (Clementine) Gadson; Martino Family; a host of  other relatives and friends.
