Ms. Catherine Summers departed this life on Monday, January 21, 2013 at Colleton Medical Center in Walterboro, SC. Ms. Summers was born June 12, 1926 in Orangeburg County, South Carolina. She was the daughter of the late Ozzie Summers and Maggie Rosa Summers.

Catherine attended the public schools in Dorchester County in the St. Mark area. She attended St. Mark UM Church in her early years until she moved to Jersey City, NJ. After moving to Jersey City she joined Metropolitan AME Zion Church under the leadership of Rev. Lynch and served there faithfully in many capacities.

Catherine was employed by Laundry & Dry Cleaning Workers & Allied for over 30 years until she retired. She then relocated to South Carolina where she joined the St. Mark UM Church family.

Catherine was preceded in death by one sister, Dorothy Seals.

She leaves to cherish her many memories, eight nieces, Annie V. Martino and Carolyn Summers both of St. George, SC, Evon Seals (Billy) Stafford and Brenda Gordon both of Dorchester, SC, Albertha S. (Charles) Jones and Marilyn Seals both of North Charleston, SC, Dorothy (Craig) Williams of Ladson, SC and Alice (Duran) Hooks of Atlanta, GA; five nephews, Allen (Rose) Summers of Orlando, FL, Harold (Sharon) Seals of Atlanta, GA, John Henry (Sharon) Seals of St. George, SC, Eugene Seals and Roosevelt Seals both of Dorchester, SC and James (Loraine) Green of Gaston, SC and a host of grandchildren, grand nieces, grand nephew, the many individuals she helped raise in Jersey City, NJ, other relatives and friends.
