Carrie Bell Brown, the daughter of the late Willie Byrd Adams and Fairy Lee Adams was born May 16, 1944 in Harleyville, SC. Carrie was educated in Dorchester County schools, worked in various occupations, and retired as a home care worker. She was married to the late Maurice Brown Sr. on November 5, 1963 in Cairo, Georgia.

To her children and grandchildren, she was a very devoted and loving mother and grandmother. To the community, a good neighbor, to God Almighty, a humble Christian soldier. Sister Brown became a member of Greater St. Paul A.M.E. Church at a very early age. Sister Brown always went above and beyond to help someone. Her life demonstrates her love for Christ exampled by her many kind deeds rendered to others. Surely, she has been summoned by God's angels to come home to receive her eternal rest and reward. She served victoriously in God's Christian army and travelled a long and tedious journey with many trials and tribulations while making preparation for her soul's salvation.

She leaves to cherish fond memories two sons, Maurice (Deborah) Brown Jr. and Eric (Tiffany) Brown; three daughters, Edith (Danny) Simmons, Michelle Robinson, and Odetta (Sam) Smiley; a devoted Brother Willie Boyd; three sisters- in- law, Mrs. Annette Gaines, Ms. Barbara J. Brown and Mrs. Jeannette Mitchell; two brothers-in-law, Mr. Lum Brown Jr., and Mr. Charles Brown; sixteen grandchildren, JaQuay Allen, Mycal Allen, DeAsia Brown, Nykia Brown, Eric Brown Jr., Nemira Brown, Javoni Brown, Catherine Simmons, Daniel Simmons, Tamera Robinson, Ransford Robinson Jr., Shameara Robinson, Angel Smiley, Sam Smiley Jr., and Joshua Smiley and great-grandchildren.

After an extended illness, she departed this life on Monday, November 24, 2014, under the loving dedicated and watchful care of her granddaughter and care taker Catherine Michelle Simmons.
