The late Mr. Carlton Freeman, son of Ella Mae Freeman and Harvey Lee Herndon was born on December 23, 1933 in Atlanta, Georgia.

On Sunday, May 12, 2013, Mr. Carlton Freeman departed this life in Trident Hospital.

He was educated in the public schools of Atlanta, Georgia. He was employed with the Southern Railroad as a chef. In 1978, he moved to South Carolina and was employed with Dorchester County as a Truck Driver. He was a member of Greater St. Paul A.M.E church.

He enjoyed cooking, fishing and camp meeting. He also enjoyed helping to keep the appearance of the campground clean. He loved riding small children and visiting his neighbors in his electric wheelchair.

He was united in Holy Matrimony to Rita Bell Williams Berry in November 14, 1978. He was a loving and devoted husband.

Two brothers preceded him in death, Sanford Sategall and Sylvester Herndon.

He leaves to cherish his loving memories: his wife, Rita Bell Freeman of the home, two sisters Lillian Gilbert of Columbus, Ohio, and Annette Newson of Newman, Georgia, one brother, four children, Loretta Warner of Atlanta, Georgia, Benjamin (Patricia) Berry of Columbia, South Carolina, Reverend Rufus (Ida) Berry of Harleyville, South Carolina, and Edna (Willie) James of Holly Hill, South Carolina, eight grandchildren and eight great- grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and sorrowing friends.
