Betty Ann Vaughan (King) born on August 25, 1944 and was the eldest daughter of (6) siblings from the union of the late Lizzie & Will T. Griffin in South Carolina. God called Betty home early Wednesday morning on December 26, 2012 after a long battle with Cancer. She peacefully transitioned into eternal rest at her home in Brooklyn, New York.

Betty graduated from Williams Memorial High School in 1962. She later migrated to New York where she attended Staten Island College where she received her Bachelor's Degree.

Betty worked hard for over (25) years for the State of New York. She worked for "The Dept. of Mental Hygiene on Staten Island and after the closing of that facility, she took on a position at "The Centennial House" caring for Mentally Challenged Adults. Betty later became a New York State Corrections Officer working for "Arthur Kill Correctional Facility where she retired with honors in "2005".

Betty always had a love for sports but her past time passion was the love of Bowling. She joined a Bowling League both in New York & Georgia. But what she loved the most was her family; she was the glue that held our family together. You could always go to her for advice and as she learned from her mother, no matter what you go through between family, family is family and she always encouraged us to work out our differences.

Betty was preceded in death by her Mother (Lizzie Griffin); Father (Will T. Griffin); Sister (Jenette Hicks); Brother (George Griffin) and Sister-in-law (Lue Ellen Griffin).

She leaves to cherish her memories: Husband, Felton King; her best friend a loving & devoted daughter, Alicia Vaughan (Gregory) Offutt, two loving sons, Tarus (Angela) Vaughan; Eric (Nikki) Vaughan; stepdaughter, Sheila (Andre) Williams; step-granddaughter, Andrea Williams, stepsons, Martin & Felton King Jr.; siblings brother, Raymond Griffin; sisters Gladys (Rev. Frank) Moses and Bernice Griffin; three granddaughters, Alexis Vaughan; Teeria Vaughan; Erica Vaughan, one great-granddaughter Corrine; her favorite nephew Bernard Elmore and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
