As God looked around His garden on Wednesday Morning, May 24, 2017, He saw a beautiful rose that needed to be cut. With a gentle hand and a soft, sweet voice, God whispered "come with me to the home I have prepared for you". Without a good-bye, she left us all for her home on high.

Bertha Lee (Lary) Singletary was born in Dorchester County on December 2, 1924 to the late Willie and Eliza Cherry Lary.

She was educated in the Public Schools of Dorchester County.

At an early age, she joined Morris Chapel United Methodist Church, where she served faithful until she moved to Philadelphia, PA in 1955 to seek gainful employment. During her stay in Philadelphia, she was employed by Philco Ford Company where she remained until she retired. After retirement, she fulfilled her dream by returning home in 1994 to live at 120 Bertha Lee Road, Dorchester, SC. She also returned to her church and continued to work faithfully until her health failed. She was a member of the Senior Choir, Communion Steward Board, and was Ms. Morris Chapel. Whenever there was a Morris Chapel Senior's Outing, her choice was always "Captain D's" to eat.

On June 8, 1957, she was joined in Holy Matrimony to the late Henry Singletary.

One brother, Wilbur Lary preceded her in death.

She leaves to cherish her memories: one goddaughter, Diondra (DeDe) Ladson, one godson, Leon Adams, Jr.; two special cousins, Clarence Lary, who cared for her and who she said "was her everything" and Reginald Cusack; her special caregivers, Lorraine Lary and Barbara Goodwin; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other family and friends.
