Bertha Lee Sims, daughter of the late William Adams and Minnie Utsey Adams, was born January 18, 1934 in Grover, Dorchester County, South Carolina. The Adams were blessed have 10 children with Bertha being the youngest and last living child before she departed this life on February 8, 2022 resting at her home.
At an early age she became a member of Jerusalem Baptist Church in Grover, S.C. Growing up she attended Dorchester County public schools. She was united in holy matrimony to the late Isaac Sims for 50 years. To this union three children were born. She worked at Paragon Electric Co. as a seamstress and later on worked on the farm with her husband at their home. Bertha was a member of The Order of the Eastern Star, Welding Chapter 125 of Harleyville, SC. When she wasn't helping to raise her community, she volunteered her time to be a Home Health Aide, former manager of Jerusalem kitchen crew and member of the Christmas Club.
She was a faithful member of Jerusalem Baptist Church. She leaves to mourn her homegoing her devoted an loving children, John Sims (Linda), Leland Sims of Lithonia, GA, Issac Tyrone Sims of Dorchester, SC; two adopted daughters, Jorah Boyd (William) of Harleyville, SC, Regina Wilson of Dorchester, SC; grandchildren; Johnathan, Tamika, Kim, Tylandra, Olympia, Trinidad, Keri, Leland(-2013), Daytoine, Talaya, Threse, Neisha and William; sister-m-law, Evelyn Moses of Dorchester, SC; seventeen great grands and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Her favorite fishing sisters, Mrs. Mattie Brown & the late Ella Dell Simmons.
