Berneatha Annierell Brothers Britt was born September 1, 1930 to the late Parker Brothers and Gussie Cobbs Brothers. God saw fit to call his beloved daughter home Monday January16, 2023 in Ellenwood GA.

Berneatha Britt was born in St George (Gum Branch Community), South Carolina Dorchester County, where she grew up. She attended the Black Public School of Dorchester County.

Berneatha joined Bethel Baptist Church at an early age and was baptized at age of Thirteen. She was a lifelong member. She Loved the Lord, the Church as well as her Church family.

On January 8, 1949 Berneatha was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Louis William Britt (Sonny). They were married for sixty-two years until Sonny's death. To that union they were blessed with seven children, Richard Lee Britt who preceded her in death, Lois Marie Britt, Irene Brinda Britt James, Vanessa Britt Perry, Debora Elise Britt, Joyce Britt, Annierell Britt Dixel.

Berneatha and Louis (Sonny) moved to Brooklyn, NY, so they could provide a better quality of life for their family and raising children.  They went from sharecropping in St. George to a one bedroom in Brooklyn.  Later moving to the Projects, while working and saving their monies.  They stepped out on faith and purchased their first home, a two-family Brownstone in Brooklyn.  Continuing their dream and wanting to be back in the country, they later searched in Upstate, NY.  Finding a five-acre lot they purchased and built a home, partly with their own hands.  In their Golden years they moved back to their birth place, purchasing the home they enjoyed many years with children, grands and great grands.

Berneatha, in her early years she was a homemaker raising her children.  In her community she was the person people turn to for advice and help with their children and elderly.  She could turn nothing into something, hard times into good times, tears into joy, a piece of fabric into a beautiful outfit.  Her sprite was filled with love.  She was always joking and laughing, encouraging other to not give up and always do your best.

Berneatha did not work outside the home until she was sure the older children could look out for the younger ones.  She worked as a Housekeeper, Nurses Aid, School Cafeteria Server.

In Berneatha's last days, she simply said, "Don't worry about me.  God's got my address.  He knows who I am.

Berneatha was preceded in death by her loving parents Parker and Gussie Brothers, her beloved Husband Louis William Britt, her precious son Richard Lee Britt. Four brothers Obee Brothers, Ellis Brothers, Maron Brothers, Maldo Brothers, three sisters Beatrice B. Haynes, Cloretha Bryant, Cedelle Winningham Calloway.

She leaves to cherish her memory her six daughters Marie Britt of Atlanta Ga, Brinda James, Vanesse (Willie) Perry both of Ellenwood Ga, Debora Britt of Clarkesville Ga, Joyce Britt of Lithonia GA, and Annierell Dixel of Dallas TX, eight grandchildren Anton Khary (Latoya) James of Joppa MD, Tenecia Dixel of Lithonia GA, Deidra Alpha Marie Bancs of Washington DC, Hannah (Robert) Williams of Dallas, TX, Lydia Davenport of Dallas TX, Demetrius Perry of Temecula, CA, Lashay Perry Decatur GA, and Latasha Owens of Princeton, NJ,  seven great grandchildren Juliana Dixel, Jordan Louis James, Ayden Thomas, Javon Perry, Christian, Ryan and Laila Hobdy. Berneatha had cherished nieces that called all the time, Gloria Ferguson, Diane Smith and Myra Hollinshead, a host of brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
