Benjamin Franklin Rasberry, also known as "Uncle Ben" was born on June 9, 1926 in Dorchester County, Branchville, South Carolina to the late James and Ellen Britt Rasberry. On Sunday, September 30, 2012, he entered into eternal rest at Trident Medical Center in Charleston, South Carolina.

He attended public school in Dorchester County. Ben accepted Christ at an early age, joining Jericho Baptist Church. He worked very hard in the fields and was also a logger. Later, he moved to Trenton, New Jersey with his wife Emma (Henderson) and daughter Bennie Lou.

Ben was a World War II Veteran serving in the United States Navy. He received an Honorable Discharge.

Once in New Jersey he acquired numerous jobs. Ben worked mainly in the steel industry and finally retired working for the Federal Government.

Ben was preceded in death by two wives, Emma (Henderson) and Alice (Conover).

He leaves to cherish precious memories, a daughter, Bennie Lou (Walt) Isaac of Willingboro, NJ; a son, Ben Junior (Regina) Stevens of St. George, SC; four grandsons, Jeffery Howard, Walter Isaac, III, Qua'Jon Ravenell and Quamaine Stevens; three granddaughters, Chyna Stevens, Ratesha Minus and Katika (Michael) Lary; nine great grandchildren; two brothers, Roosevelt Rasberry of Branchville, SC and Robert (Nancy) Rasberry of Columbia, SC; two sisters, Emma Rhett of Columbia, SC and Irene Britt of St. George, SC; one sister-in-law, Katherine Rasberry of NJ and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
