Brother Benjamin Moss "Ben" Hankins was born on October 10, 1944 in St. George, SC to the late Von Lee Hankins and Johnnie Mae Simmons-Hankins.  He gained his wings to be with the presence of the Lord on January 11th, 2024 at Acclaim Rehabilitation and Care Center in Jersey City, New Jersey.

Benjamin attended the public schools of Dorchester County.  In 1963, he relocated to Jersey City, New Jersey where he was employed by Bank Brothers in Kearny, New Jersey for seven years and later with Palisades Medical Center in North Bergen, New Jersey until 1989.

Benjamin was preceded in death by his siblings Annie Lou "Lula" Hankins and Von Lee Hankins, Jr.

Benjamin leaves to cherish his precious memories: one devoted son, Steve Washington of Jersey City, NJ; two beautiful daughters, Loretta Funches (Benjamin) of Jersey City, NJ and Wanda Bena Mays of Philadelphia, PA; one sister, Betty Jean Hankins of Philadelphia, PA; two nieces, Clohilda Kelly of Jersey City, NJ, and Marcine Hankins of St. George, SC; nephew, Wilbert Hankins (Princess) of St. George, SC; eight grandchildren, Rashad, Adam, Latrice, April, Makita, Dwayne, Tracey and Deryck; 19 great grandchildren; one aunt, Jeanette Simmons of St. George, SC; three uncles, Leroy Simmons and Allen Simmons (Marie) both of St. George, SC and Adolph Simmons of Jersey City, NJ.  He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
