On Sunday morning, July 29, 2012, God's angel of mercy came to claim its own. Brother Anthony Smith was the first son of Mrs. Evelyn Hayes Smith and the late Mr. Johnny B. Smith.

He was born December 29, 1969, in Dorchester County. He was reared and educated in the public schools of Dorchester County. He furthered his education at Roadmaster Driving School, Inc., West Memphis, Arkansas, where he received a degree in commercial truck driving in 2007. He received Christ at an early age and became a member of St. John UM Church in Dorchester, SC. He worked faithfully on the usher board and was chairman of the Trustee Board.

In August 2006, Anthony moved to Ladson, SC. He was employed by Waste Pro in Summerville, SC as a lead driver. On July 24, 2007, he was joined in holy matrimony to Doris Young.

To his family, Anthony was loving and faithful and strived to make them happy. To his community and neighbors he was always willing to help in any way possible.

On our journey through life we gather as a family to learn, to love, to share, to grow, and then return, to the cosmos to twinkle with the stars.

Anthony has left us with legends, with love, with lessons learned. At present we are in sorrow because we miss him. We send him with love knowing we are engulfed and surrounded with his love, God's greatest gift to humanity. In this, we are sustained with God's love for a sweeter more restful tomorrow. He was a devoted and loving husband and father.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Johnny B. Hayes and his paternal grandparents, Eloise and Manson Smith.

His memory will always live in the lives of his beloved wife, Doris Young Smith; four sons, Anthony M. Smith of Harleyville, SC, Andre Moyd, Charles Thompson, Jr. And Christopher Thompson all of Ladson, SC; his mother, Evelyn Hayes Smith of Dorchester, SC; one sister, Pamelia (Casey) Smith of Dorchester, SC; two brothers, Benjamin Simmons and Lamont Smith both of Dorchester, SC; two nephews, Sergio and Brandon Smith both of Dorchester, SC; grandmother, Ruth Hayes of St. George, SC; mother-in-law, Clydis Young of Baltimore, MD; eight aunts, four uncles; tem great aunts; four sisters-in-law; three brothers-in-law and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.
