Mrs. Annie Ruth Sims Berry was born February 13, 1928, to the late Landy B. Sims and Anna Sims in Ridgeland County. One sister—Carrie Wilson and one brother—Issac Sims preceded her in death.

At an early age, Sister Berry started her Christian journey and joined St. Paul AME Church in Dorchester, South Carolina. She served faithfully as a Missionary, President of Stewardess Board #2, President of the Senior Choir, Class Leader #12 and a member of the Golden Club. She loved her church, family and everyone she met. She was a fun person, who loved singing and praising the Lord.

Annie Ruth received her education in the St. Paul Community and Williams Memorial School in St. George, South Carolina. She attended Voorhees College. She was employed for several years at Paragon Electrics in Summerville, South Carolina.

Annie Ruth was happily married to the late David C. Berry for 59 years. This union was blessed with five lovely children.

She leaves to cherish her loving memories her children, John C. Berry (Valerie) of Harleyville, South Carolina, Shirley B. Brown (Charles), Solomon Berry and Derrick Berry (Michelle) all of Dorchester, South Carolina and Anna B. Stewart (Russell) of Lugoff, South Carolina; an adopted daughter, Betty Boyd (Eugene) of St. George, South Carolina; one loving sister, Evelyn Moses of Dorchester, South Carolina; a devoted cousin, Thelma Collins of Richmond, Virginia; six sisters-in-law, Bessie Pryor, Evola Riley (Benjamin) and Corrine Berry all of Harleyville, South Carolina, Bertha Sims of Dorchester, South Carolina, Hazel Quzack of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Betty Mills of Fayetteville, North Carolina; three brothers-in-law, Cornell Berry and Benjamin Riley both of Harleyville, South Carolina and Samuel Berry of Charleston, South Carolina; fourteen grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three step grandchildren; three step great-grandchildren; three special adopted children, Dr. Kenneth and Judge Jackie G. Jenkins of Reevesville, South Carolina and Dr. Cassandra A. Jenkins of Harleyville, South Carolina; special devoted caregivers, Jaime Simmons and Gretta P. Brown; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
