Sister Annie Bell Mays Lary was born August 27, 1927 and entered into eternal rest Sunday, January 30, 2022 at 11:50 a.m. at Oak Brook Rehabilitation Center in Summerville, SC.

She became a Christian at a very young age and began her work in The Elm Missionary Baptist Church as a Sunday School Scholar, continuing on and singing in gospel groups and President of the Senior Choir.  Her favorite song was "Everything that Happened to Me That Was Good, God Did It".  She was loyal to God and her church.

Today we are silent to pay tribute to a person who has lived among us and went about doing good.  One who always put Christ first in all things.  Calling on Him to help bear pains, when she refused to call her loved ones, knowing they were already overburdened.  She was a friend to all but remained in the background.

"There is an open gate at the end of the road through which each must go alone and there in light we cannot see our Father claims his own.  Beyond the gate our loved one finds happiness and rest and there is comfort in the thought that a loving God knows best."

She was married to the late Howard W. Lary.  To this union one son was born.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Emma Johnson Mays; four sisters, Lula Mays Gelzer, Thelma M. Ross, Carre Lee M. Calhoun and Maggie M. Fogel and eight brothers, Syndney, Sinclair, Wesley, Charlie, Emanuel, Kerby, Samuel and Postell Mays.

She leaves to cherish her fond memories:  one son, John Wilson (Joyce) Lary of Hillside, NJ; one grandson, Michael (Terca) Lary of Atlanta, GA; one granddaughter, Ayesha Lary of Fenton, DE; one sister, Ms. Indell Mays of Dorchester, SC; three heartstrings, JaQuinn Wamer, Bryan Wamer and Tiana Wamer; a host of other relatives and friends.

Earth's loss is Heaven's gain.  Sleep on Sister Lary, we will meet you in the morning, where sweet flowers will grow.
