Obituary

Mrs. Ann Barber Mack, 82 passed away June 10, 2016 at White Manor Nursing Home in Charleston, SC. Mrs. Mack was born April 20, 1934, the daughter of the late Corine and Joe Barber.

Ann graduated from Marengo County High School. She moved to Mobile, Ala. in her early twenties, where she met and married the love of her life Major Mack, Jr. They were married 43 years until his death. They were the proud and loving parents of sons, Stanley and Kenneth, and one daughter, Harriet, one adopted son, Billy (BJ), one adopted daughter, Chineka and one grandson reared in the home, Tonie Jackson.

Ann accepted Christ at an early age and joined Sweet Pilgrim Baptist Church in Mobile, Ala. where she was involved in Progressive Ministry. She worked as a Teacher Assistant in the Mobile School System where she retired after over 20 years.

Ann was loved by many as she was forever kind to people and always helped people that were in need. She spent her entire life helping people and serving God and attending church.

Years after retirement Ann and Major moved to Atlanta, Ga. to live with their daughter.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Major; her son, Kenneth; her brothers Willie and Fred; her sisters, Arthorine, Hattie and Annie.

She leaves to cherish her memories and legacy, her daughters, Harriet (Herman) Mack Holmon of St. George, SC and Chinekea (Charles) Rogers McKenzie of Atlanta, Ga.; sons, Stanley (Ann) Mack of Bettendorf, IA, and Billy (Charity) (BJ) Rogers of Atlanta, Ga.; her sister, Alma Barber Gray of Atlanta, Ga.; three great grand children, Jacobi, Cailtin and Caden a host of nieces, nephews, and grandchildren; other cousins, other relatives and friends.
