Mrs. Angie Lee Newton received her wings on November 27, 2018 at MUSC in Charleston, South Carolina.

Angie was born March 24, 1937 in St. George, South Carolina to the late William and Angie Summers.  She was the baby of seven children.

Angie was educated in the public school system of St. George, South Carolina.

She was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Adam Douglas, Sr. From this union came three children.  She moved to Brooklyn, New York, where she worked and retired from Ideal Toy Company.

After the death of Adam, Sr., Angie later met and married the late Franklin Newton.  From that union there were two children.  They then bought a home and moved to Jamaica Queens, New York.

Although retired, her caring and nurturing nature led her to the medical field of home healthcare.

Angie was an active member of St. Paul Baptist Church of Jamaica, New York until she returned home in 1992. She then became a devoted member of St. Mark Baptist Church in the Texas Community where she was part of the Women's Missionary Society.

Angie was the glue that held everyone and everything together and enjoyed doing so.

Angie leaves to cherish her precious memories: one daughter, Chaney Smith of Fayetteville, NC; one son, Lenard Newton of Norfolk, VA; a grandson which she raised Sharod Ja-Quan Newton of St. George, SC; daughter-in-law, Doris "Pat" Douglas of Jamaica, NY; brother-in-law, Curtis (Dorothy) Newton of Lawrenceville, VA; two sisters-in-law, Nora (John) Garrick of South Ozone Park, NY and Marcelles Scott Newton of Detroit, MI; seventeen grandchildren;  twenty great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; a special nephew, Kevin Pinckney of Beaufort, SC; a host of other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Angie Summers, three of her sons, Joseph Douglas, Sylvester Douglas and Adam Douglas, Jr., sisters, Lula B. Riley, Rachel Addison, Dorothy Lemon, Corrine Cole and brothers, William Summers, Jr. and Leroy Summers.
