Almeanter Gavins was the daughter of the late Leroy Amaker, Sr. and the late Rosa Adams.  She was born in Harleyville, SC on December 13, 1955 and departed life on May 18, 2023 at the age of 67.

She attended the public schools of Dorchester County.

She became a member of Briner Christian Church under the Bishop Gralin Hampton.

She was employed with Dorchester School District Two for many years.

Almeanter was united in holy matrimony to the late Randy Gavins on March 4, 1985.  To this union four children were born.

She was preceded in death by one grandson, Randy Kevin Johnson, Jr., son and siblings, Charles Amaker, Leroy Amaker, Reverend Dorothy Mae Bowman, Marcellous Amaker and Alphonso Amaker.

Those left to cherish fond memories of Almeanter: sons, Freddie Johnson, Randy (Pamela) Johnson and Rodney Johnson all of Holly Hill, SC; one daughter, Merylin (Donnelle) Gathers of Harleyville, SC; sisters, Joyce Amaker of Summerville, SC, Nealy (Jake) newton, Mary Amaker, Sherry Newton all of Harleyville, SC, Justine (Oscar) Williams of Miami, FL; brothers, James (Bertha Lee) Amaker Sammie Adams, Charles Adams and Michael Adams all of Harleyville, SC; mother-in-law, Mary  Walters of Holly Hill, SC; sisters-in-law, Tonya Gavins of Charleston, SC, Herlene Amaker of Orangeburg, SC, Mildred Amaker of Harleyville, SC, Mary Lee Walters, and Mary Sue (Nathaniel) Ravenell all of Holly Hill, SC; brothers-in-law, Lewis (Christine) Walters, Jerome (Linda) Gavin, David Lee (Michelle) Walters all of Holly Hill, SC; two aunts, Mary Lee Goodwin of Holly Hill, SC and Jesse Lee Maxwell of Miami, FL; thirteen grandchildren, six great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
