Alice Marie Jones Britt was born on May 19, 1937 to the late Marion Francis Jones and Alice Carson Jones.  She was called home by her Heavenly Father on February 28, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. after an extended illness.

She was educated in the Orangeburg and Dorchester County School Systems.  She was employed by Dorchester County School District in food services and later as a manager, retiring after 28 years of service.

She was married to the late Lawrence Britt, Sr.  This union was blessed with five children.  At an early age she joined Bethel AME Church where she worked faithfully on Stewardess Board # 1, Usher Board and also served as a Steward and Trustee.

Alice had a sweet, gentle spirit.  She was preceded in death by two brothers: Rome and Marion and three sisters, Alvilda, Martha and Fannie.

She leaves to mourn her life, three beautiful daughters, Norma Jean (Rev. George), Melva (Steven) both of St. George, SC and Eva of the home; Tamika Chaunta Glover (niece raised in the home) ; two distinguished sons, Lawrence, Jr. of Washington, DC and Daniel of Virginia Beach, VA; one step son, Lawrence Stevens of Reevesville, SC; three adoring sisters, Gloria R. Brown of St. George, SC, Thelma Glover of Washington, DC and Pansy Burton of Freedom, PA; five phenomenal grandchildren, Jaleel, Jana , Steven, Destiny and Noah; one dynamic great grandchild, Braxton Eli Jennings; one brother-in-law, John H. (Corine) Britt; sister-in-law, Laverne Britt; one adopted daughter of the heart, Lillie (Harry) Cobbs; devoted niece, Verlyn Berry; a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
